Since the age of 12, Harrison Golden watched and reported the news. “I used to watch a bunch of news programs and I would write up summaries,” Harrison expressed, “I was always intrigued by the idea of an anchorperson or reporters.” Harrison further explained that his experience grew from these very summaries and helped him to expand in all areas of his writing.

Harrison Golden grew up in Monroe, New York with his mother and father. His mother, Mary Golden, is a 55 –year-old special needs teacher who dedicates her life to helping those that need it most. A PHD in science, Harrisons father Robert is a freelance textbook editor at the age of 57. Growing up close to the city, Harrison often took the train into Manhattan to explore everything it has to offer. Now, at age 19, Harrison lives in Manhattan and is a striving young college student.

A freshman at Eugene Lang the New School for Liberal Arts, Harrison is pursuing a degree in culture and media. “I’ve always been interested in popular culture and how it gets people riled up,” Harrison explained. He continued to describe the multiple uses for media and believes that it’s a mode “that does things that other modes cannot.” Harrison plans on using his knowledge of Culture and Media to become a successful writer.

“I want to be Joel Stein,” Harrison exclaimed when questioned about his future goals. Although he claims to be quite the procrastinator, Harrison expressed hopes of becoming a fiction author or a journalist. “I can’t see myself being a full-time fiction writer because it just seems like too much pressure. I just want to do something that allows me to be creative. That’s what I’m looking for.” Snagging a job at WRXP FM, Harrison hopes to use the knowledge he gains from the radio station to pursue a career in News broadcasting. However he still hopes to write for magazines and newspapers in the future.
